Who We Are
333 Valley Street is an Intergenerational Organization Inc. Our mission is to prepare youth, adults, Seniors and their families for successful lives. We utilize innovative approaches in mentoring and education to help individuals develop to be healthy, productive, contributing, and responsible citizens in our community.
Activities
Line Dancing
•Dancing helps the mind of the senior’s because they have to remember the routine and constantly think about what is next. It is also an excellent cardio activity.
Senior Crafts
Seniors can also teach crafts to children such as knitting, needle point, crocheting, quilting, sewing and mending things or replacing buttons.
One on One Tutorial
Following a needs assessment, each student will be paired with a tutor selected specifically for that student. Each student has different needs and styles of learning. An evaluation of both student and tutor will provide information for the most effective pairing. This will ensure the student will learn more effectively and efficiently.
Chair Exercise
Exercising while sitting will Keep seniors engaged and active. It reduces the effects of age-related illness and Improves overall well-being. Chair exercise will develop senior's cardio fitness, muscular tone and strength as well as improving flexibility.
Program Coding & Robotics
Learning to code can equip these youth with valuable skills such as problem solving, logical thinking, and becoming highly creative which will become successful for them in life.
Computer Class
We offer classes teaching basic computer skills to for seniors and young adults. Partnering with local businesses.
Senior Storytime
So many of our children in today’s society have lost their grandparents and are missing the cultural values that are passed down from one degeneration to another. At 333 Valley Street Center and Intergenerational Org., we will get seniors involved in the community and bridge the gap in this generational void by connecting youth and seniors.
Life skills
The essentials of life skills are to broaden skills for teenagers to solve problems, protect themselves, learning to manage finances and to practice self compassion and engage in healthy habits .
Urban Farming
We provide opportunity for urban youth and seniors to learn hands-on about farming without leaving the neighborhood they live in.
Game Room Activities
Come and play with us! Open to all teens and adults to be in a safe space while enjoying each other and having fun.
Media Production
Learn the ins and outs of media and how to produce quality content for advertising, film and internet purposes. Bring your visions to life.
Journalism
Students gain insight into topics like interviewing techniques, multi-culturalism and the media and communication efforts. Develop new literary skills including the ability to differentiate the difference between facts and opinion. They will understand bias, balance and fairness in news coverage. And appreciate the importance of credible and verifiable news sources.
Recording Engineering
The music class is designed to teach the fundamentals of where various types of music began along with music application. Students will be given the opportunity to play instruments, create and to produce their own music. Instrumental and vocal will be offered.
Culinary Class
With basic and elegant styles of cooking teens can learn how to prepare meals for their everyday living.
The Shack Café
We will partner with local culinary groups to display their cooking skills while community and other guest indulged in conversations, music, games or spoken words from students of the program or invited guest.
Menu and fee’s will be designed by the students under staff supervision.
The Shack - Game Room
Students will have to earn the privilege to participate in the game room. They will do so by receiving tokens of achievement for good behavior, literacy improvement, one on one tutorial focus and participation, reading achievement, crafts, life skills, music theory classes and participation in the Bullying Campaign.
The Shack - Youth Center
Our Life Skills Program offers youth and adults the chance to learn the essential life & communication skills that they need to live and excel in today’s world. Youth and Adults learn basic skills such as:
1. Lifestyle choices
2. Personal hygiene
2. Cooking healthy meals
3. Cleaning
4. Washing clothes
5. Food shopping
